Spring Home Reset: What to Declutter First
Share
Spring cleaning gets a bad reputation for being overwhelming. But a home reset doesn't have to mean tackling everything at once. Start with the right things, in the right order, and the rest becomes easier.
Start with surfaces.
Countertops, shelves, and tabletops are the first things you see when you walk into a room. Clearing them first creates an immediate sense of calm and gives you momentum to keep going. Remove everything, wipe down the surface, and only put back what belongs.
Tackle textiles next.
Swap out heavy winter bedding for lighter options. Our NEWLAKE Quilt Set is lightweight, breathable, and perfect for the transition into warmer months. Wash and store your heavier blankets in under-bed storage containers to keep them accessible but out of the way.
Edit your storage.
Open every drawer and cabinet and remove anything you haven't used in six months. Replace mismatched containers with uniform fabric storage cubes or woven baskets for a cleaner, more cohesive look.
Refresh, don't replace.
A spring reset isn't about buying new things. It's about making the most of what you already have β cleaned, organized, and intentionally placed. The result is a home that feels new without spending a thing.
